Update 9/20/19: As you may have noticed if you’ve been (re)reading through the archive, I’ve moved the Fan Art Friday entries from this time period to the ends of chapters. I’m leaving this illustration where it is in the timestream for posterity.

As I’ve been hinting this past few days, I’m going to start doing Fan Art Fridays through this chapter and the next (and possibly at least part of chapter 9. We’ll see…). This will be instead of regular Friday comic updates. It makes me really sad to have to do this, but it’s become a bit necessary. As you may or may not know, I’m graduating from university at the end of this quarter. This means that I will most likely be moving this Summer and also having to settle into a new job (unless you guys all go Patreon support me :p nah, I’d have to somehow get to the $1000 level to consider not getting a job and I don’t think I have the readership for that). The plan was to wait until the start of the next chapter, which would have been sometime mid June, to start the reduced updates, but unfortunately, I have a very time intensive French lit class this quarter and I haven’t really had the time to keep up with comic stuff at the rate I was during the rest of the year.

How is this going to work?

Instead of posting a page of comic, I’m going to post a page of something else. Ideally, I’d like to post fan art to fill that space. I want to use this as an opportunity to give some other artists some free ad space so if you have a webcomic or just do art on the internet, whip up a thing (it can be anything; a guest comic, an illustration, a sketch, or some other thing. I’m not really picky.) and send it to me at smallcloud@mariahcurrey.com. Be sure to include a link to you’re thing if you have a thing you want to link to. If you don’t have a thing, that’s also completely fine. I’m also not concerned about artistic skill level, so don’t let that keep you from being creative. The only requirement is that it be safe for work, pg-13 at most. Don’t let that stop you from doing some shipping if you want, just keep it clean.

If I don’t get enough fan submitted art to fill every week, I’ll post something else Fridays. This’ll be either a sketch, a playlist, or possibly some of the Patreon updates from this year to tantalize you guys 😉

When will normal updates resume?

Currently, with the 2 page per week schedule, chapter eight should finish sometime early to mid August. I may decide to extend it another chapter depending on how much of a pencil buffer I’m able to build up during this time. I’d like to try and get 4 to 5 new chapters penciled over the summer, but that may be too ambitions. Especially since the chapters are probably in general going to be getting longer (chapter 11 is roughed to be like 50 pages, it’s crazy.). I may also decide to just resume regular updates around October 13th since it’ll be the Rainy Day Dreams’ first birthday as a webcomic. I will make an update at the end of chapter 8 so stay tuned.

Thanks for bearing with me guys. I really want to make sure that Rainy Day Dreams isn’t rushed so the extra time is ultimately to make sure I maintain a certain quality level. I hope you’ll enjoy the fan art and extra art 🙂 I already have some really great pieces that I’m excited to put up and show you.
